Our Pathways and Careers Team, better known as The Future Hub, coordinates a wide range of career and future pathway based services at Newman College including Workplace Learning and School-based Apprenticeships/Traineeships (SbATs).
Our Workplace Learning Program is an integral part of the Vocational Education and Training (VET) system where students gain valuable workplace experience to apply the knowledge they are gaining in the classroom. Students work with an employer, as a work experience student one day per week and one block week within the placement period.
An SbAT is a program where the student works for the employer and gets paid. Traineeships cover Year 11 and 12 and finish at the end of schooling. Apprenticeships cover the first year of an Apprenticeship over Year 11 and 12 and then continue on after their HSC as a Full-time Apprentice.
The Future Hub Team consists of:
Kylie Ham – Future Pathways & Careers Team Leader
Beth Bailey – Workplacement Administration
Claire McGregor – Industry Liaison Officer
Brigid Loane – SbAT Administration
Geoff Jones – Learning Centre Supervisor.
We are very excited to meet you next year and you can find us upstairs in A Block. Please come up and see us anytime.
