The Charles Sturt University (CSU) Paramedic Program aims to provide authentic simulation experiences for its students. To this end, they approached Newman College to partner with CSU to create a mobile ‘simulated crashed car’ for CSU students to practice treatment and extrication from vehicles.

This project was ideal for Newman Automotive and Manufacturing & Engineering students to work on during 2024 work placement (on-the-job training) at scheduled times under the supervision of VOCOL Engineering staff and Newman teachers.

CSU provided the car and accessibility specifications, while Newman staff designed the changes to enable access to the vehicle and simulate the approach paramedics would be required to take when treating car crash victims.

The car was delivered ready for CSU for students commencing Semester 1, 2025.

Thanks CSU for working with Newman in a collaboration that sees students helping students while providing excellent educational opportunities in our region.
