Newman Senior Technical College has some exciting news for 2018 Year 11 students and we know it’s going to be popular!
The College prides itself on responding to areas of growth both on a national and local level. Recently, its Industry Advisors identified local growth areas in the Hastings region comprising; Aged Care, Financial services, Construction, Accommodation and Food services and TOURISM
In response to this, Newman College has added Certificate II Tourism to their HSC course selections for 2018.
“Newman College has an Industry Board whose members represent various business sectors in our community. The College also has an Industry Liaison Officer who connects student with School-based Apprenticeship and Traineeship opportunities and the teachers and students themselves interact with literally hundreds of businesses and potential employers on a weekly basis” College Principal, Stephen Pares commented.
“We’ve listened to the community and looking to the future, we want to stay on track with delivering suitable Vocational Courses that give young people the edge in their future employment and training opportunities.”
“Certificate II in Tourism complements other service area courses offered at Newman College such as Business, Retail, Hospitality as well as Marine Studies. We offer a well-rounded selection of relevant learning options, which also meet all the requirements to achieve the Higher School Certificate.”
With the inclusion of the Tourism, the College now offers 13 VET subjects that provide nationally recognised qualifications in areas identified as relevant to the employment needs of the our region and beyond.
